05Cold storage

Ultra-Low Temperature Freezers

Lexicon® II · UUS

Long-term storage for DNA, RNA, vaccines, reagents, proteins, viruses, bacteria, cell preparations, enzymes and tissue. Four chamber sizes, two controllers and a choice of three or five inner doors.

  • −50 °C to −86 °C range, with −70 °C the recommended setpoint for most samples and lower running cost.
  • Two-stage cascade refrigeration using two 1 hp hermetic compressors run at low speed for longer life.
  • 5-inch polyurethane insulation in the cabinet and 4.5-inch on the door, with triple gasket seals.
  • Extended warm-up time during power failure — the figure that actually protects samples on an unreliable supply.
  • 304 stainless interior, electrogalvanized exterior with antimicrobial powder coating.
  • Two 25 mm access ports as standard for probes or LCO₂ backup injection.

There is no auto-defrost — the design uses natural convection, which means less noise, no fan power draw and less drying of stored material. Defrosting is manual.

06Analysis

Cell Counter

ACC-100 · ACC-200 · ACC-300

The Esco ACC Series combines the Coulter principle with image analysis, giving objective and repeatable counts independent of cell type, morphology or operator.

  • Coulter-principle counting by electrical resistance, measuring true cell volume rather than a projected area.
  • No consumable chip — a reusable microfluidic counting chip removes the recurring cost of disposable slides.
  • 3–30 µm detection with a coefficient of variation of 5% or better.
  • Results in under 30 seconds from a 1–10 µL sample.
  • Integrated imaging at 5× on the ACC-200 and ACC-300 for viability and morphology; automated trypan blue staining on the ACC-300.
  • Compatible with PBS, RPMI-1640 and DMEM, and with primary cells, immune cells and mixed populations.

Fume Hoods — Ducted & Ductless

Frontier® · Ascent™

Two families for two situations. Ducted Frontier hoods exhaust to atmosphere and handle heat, high volumes and aggressive chemistry. Ductless Ascent hoods filter and recirculate, install anywhere and relocate freely.

  • Frontier® ducted range — Mono (EFH), Duo (EFD), Acela (EFA), Acid Digestion (EFQ), Mining (EFA-M), Explosion-proof (EFA-XP), Perchloric (EFP), Floor Mounted (EFF), Radioisotope (EFI) and all-polypropylene (PPH).
  • Ascent™ ductless range — Max B/C/D/E/F series plus Opti (SPD), Titramax (SPT) for titration and Formax (SPF) for formalin.
  • Sash stop limiting movement past 457 mm on tri-wall models, with a creep-down mechanism and key override.
  • Nanocarb™ carbon filtration on ductless units, with an optional VOC sensor that alarms as the filter nears saturation.
  • FiltraCheck™ — a free chemical assessment returning the right model, filter type and expected filter life before you buy.
  • Sizes 2–8 ft across the two families, with phenolic, epoxy, stainless and ceramic worktop options.

Fume hoods are containment devices, not storage. Chemicals belong in a dedicated base cabinet, and forced evaporation of waste is never appropriate in either type.

Powder Weighing Balance Enclosure

PowderMax™

A specialised powder weighing enclosure for the safe and precise weighing, mixing and dispensing of hazardous or nuisance powders, including potent pharmaceutical compounds. Controlled inward airflow protects the operator while minimising turbulence around the balance, holding weighing stability to four decimal places.

Ideal for: API weighing, pharmaceutical powder handling, formulation, dispensing and other applications where containment and weighing accuracy are both critical.

  • HEPA-filtered exhaust for effective containment.
  • Minimised airflow turbulence so balance stability is maintained.
  • Ergonomic front sash and arm ports for safe handling.
  • Spacious work zone sized for analytical balances.
  • Audible and visual alarms for operational safety.
  • Available in 3 ft (0.9 m) and 4 ft (1.2 m) models.

PCR Cabinets

Esco PCR Cabinet

A clean, contamination-controlled workspace for PCR reagent and sample preparation. HEPA-filtered vertical laminar airflow minimises airborne contamination and cross-contamination, supporting reliable and reproducible PCR results.

Ideal for: PCR master-mix preparation, reagent preparation, sample preparation and other molecular biology applications where preventing contamination is critical.

  • HEPA-filtered vertical laminar airflow across the work zone.
  • ISO Class 3 clean air within the work zone.
  • Built-in UV decontamination system with timer to clear amplicon carry-over between runs.
  • HEPA filtration efficiency above 99.99% at 0.3 µm.
  • UV-filtering front and side panels for enhanced user protection.
  • Available in 2 ft, 3 ft and 4 ft models, depending on the series.

PCR cabinets are intended for product protection and contamination control, not for protection against infectious or biohazardous samples. Where personnel or environmental protection is required, a Class II biological safety cabinet should be used.

A laminar flow cabinet protects the sample, not the operator — the airflow travels toward you. It must never be used with infectious material.

Not sure which model?

We specify against your chemistry before we quote a price.

Send the chemicals, volumes, room dimensions and exhaust availability. Where containment or chemical compatibility is in question we run Esco’s FiltraCheck assessment first, so you get the right filter and model rather than the nearest one.

Tell us the application, not just the model number.

We will come back with a specification, a drawing and a price — and if the model you asked for will not hold your chemistry, we will say so before you order.
